bianca hires guards to secure house

Bianca Ojukwu
  1. Bianca, wife of late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has hired the services of private security personnel to guard the GRA, Enugu home of her husband, where she also resides.
Aside from guarding the house, we learnt that Bianca might have taken the decision in order to prevent warring family members, who want their share of Ojukwu’s property, from gaining entry into the compound.
When our correspondent visited the house  on Tuesday, the gun-wielding men moved round the compound with Rottweiler dogs.
One of them said, “If you must gain entry, you must identify yourself and madam must give us the approval before we allow you in.”
A prominent member of the Ojukwu family last week alleged that some of the ex-Biafra warlord’s family members were targeting the property he left behind.
He said, “This is very disturbing because it has led to accusations and counter-accusations and then the hatred that was already in the family is even getting worse by the day.”
Meanwhile, attempts made by our correspondent to speak with Bianca were not successful. She did not pick her calls, neither did she reply the text messages that were sent to her mobile telephone line.
However, Debe, the eldest child of the late Ikemba, restated again on Tuesday that he would open up soon on the “issues in the family”.
He said, “Whenever it would be convenient for me, I will speak in details about the issues in the family and several other matters.”
Mr. Azuka Okwuosa, who was Ojukwu’s closest aide from 1982 after he returned from exile till 2011 when he died, said it would not be proper for him to comments on the matter because Igbo tradition forbides him from doing so.

real madrids pepe and ozil banned

Real Madrid duo Pepe and Mesut Ozil were on Friday hit with two and one match bans respectively for arguing with a referee, raising pressure on the league leaders as Barcelona snap at their heels.
The Spanish Football Federation also handed a one-match ban to Real’s Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho over the bad-tempered 1-1 draw against Villarreal on Wednesday.
Two Real Madrid players got red cards in the closing moments of the match: defender Sergio Ramos for a second yellow card, and Ozil for protesting that decision.
Among angry exchanges involving Real Madrid members, referee Paradas Romero also sent Mourinho to the stands along with his assistant Rui Faria. Pepe insulted Romero, according to Spanish media.
Mourinho received a “one-match ban for a double booking and consequent expulsion” from the touchline, while Faria received a two-match ban, the federation said in a statement.
Ramos escaped a ban in Friday’s ruling by the federation’s Competition Committee, which listed the sanctions in a regular bulletin released after a meeting on Friday.
The draw allowed Real’s fierce rivals Barcelona to close the Madrid team’s lead to six points at the top of the Spanish league.
The bans mean Mourinho and German midfielder Ozil will sit out Saturday’s league match against Real Socieded in the stands, while Portuguese-Brazilian defender Pepe will miss that game plus the tie away to Osasuna on April 1.
With another 1-1 draw on Saturday at home to Malaga, Real dropped four points in the past week.
Defending champions Barcelona are unbeaten in four games and go to in-form Mallorca on Saturday.
Real Madrid’s management hit out at referee Romero, with its football director Miguel Pardeza accusing him of double standards, in comments published on the club’s website on Friday.
“We at the club find it striking and are worried about the referee’s different standards,” Pardeza said.
“The referee’s performance was incredibly rigorous with us, sending off Rui Faria simply for applauding in support of Cristiano Ronaldo. The same goes for Ozil, a kid who is always a clean player,” he added.
“We’re not addressing the match result, but the referee’s attitude towards us, which had him constantly focusing on what was going on in our team’s coaching area.”

confession>my husband not the father of my children

A housewife, Mrs. Seinab Adebayo, on Thursday told an Ijebu-Ode Customary Court Grade ‘A’ that her husband, Adewale, was not the biological father of their three children.
Seinab, who is pregnant, also told the court that her husband was also not responsible for the pregnancy, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Adewale, who is the plaintiff, had early this month dragged his wife to court for packing out of the house with the three children without his consent.
He urged the court to order his wife to return his three children to him.
But the wife said she packed out of the house because her husband, whom she said got married to her 12 years ago, was not the biological father of the children and was not responsible for the pregnancy.
Seinab told the court that she was made to swear an oath to keep the secret that her husband was not the biological father of the children, adding that it was a deal between the two of them.
She said her husband had been married for 10 years without an issue before she married him.
She said, “When I married my husband 12 years ago, we both swore an oath not to reveal the secret that my husband is not the biological father of the children.
“And for the past 12 years, we have been keeping that secret by not allowing anybody to know that my husband is not the biological father of the three children and the pregnancy that I am carrying.”
Seinab, however, told the court that she could not reveal the details of the secret until her husband brought the oracle with which they swore the oath to court to release her from it.
She said, “I cannot give the details of the secret of who the real father of the children is until I am released from the oath.
“I will urge the court to order my husband to bring the oracle with which we swore the oath to court and release me from it before I can reveal the secret.”
Her husband, who did not deny the allegation, insisted that he was the biological father of the children.
In his ruling, the court’s President, Mr. Olatunji Kanimodo, ordered Adewale to bring the oracle with which they swore to an oath to the court in the next adjourned date.

Al-Qaeda group claims responsibility of German kidnap in Kano

A video purported to be from al-Qaeda’s North African affiliate has demanded that Germany free a woman jailed on terror charges in return for a German hostage it says it is holding.
Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb’s video was obtained by a Mauritanian news agency.
In the video, the hostage says his life is at risk if the woman is not freed.
Edgar Fritz Raupach, an engineer, was kidnapped by gunmen in Kano in January.
“We inform you that your compatriot Edgar Fritz Raupach is a prisoner of the fighters of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb,” the video said.
The group said it is seeking the release of Umm Seifullah al-Ansari, or Filiz Gelowicz, a Turkish-born woman jailed a year ago in Germany for aiding terrorism.
Her husband, German national Fritz Gelowicz, a convert to Islam, was amon

good news for muamba fans

Fabrice Muamba is “showing small signs of improvement” according to a joint statement from Barts hospital and Bolton Wanderers.
Associated Press is also reporting that a friend says the midfielder is speaking again.
The midfielder remains in intensive care after suffering a cardiac arrest during Bolton’s FA Cup sixth-round tie at Tottenham on Saturday night, but the London chest hospital said that, while he is still in a critical condition, there are small reasons to be optimistic.
A Bolton statement reads, “His heart is now beating without the help of medication and he is also moving his arms and his legs.
“However, his long-term prognosis will remain unclear for some time. He is still critically ill and will continue to be closely monitored and treated by staff in the London chest hospital’s intensive care unit.”
It is now almost 48 hours since the 23-year-old collapsed during the Tottenham tie at White Hart Lane. Medical staff took two hours to get Muamba’s heart working again and said on Sunday that he would be anaesthetised for at least another 24 hours .
“We are all after the same objective: to see that lovely young man, who has such a fantastic smile. That’s what we want to see again,” said his manager, Owen Coyle, who has remained at the hospital with Muamba. “When you look through what he’s come through in his life already, he’s a natural fighter. Also, he’s a physically fit young man so I think those two things will be a source of help and encouragement.”

tog of war

President Goodluck Jonathan may be heading for a showdown with former military dictator, Gen Ibrahim Babangida, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over the candidacy of former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola for the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Investigation by THE PUNCH on Sunday revealed that while Jonathan was to be in league with some powerful interest in the South-West to support another candidate, the desire of Oyinlola, the former military governor of Lagos State, is said to be causing ripples in the party.
Oyinlola is said to have the backing of Babangida and Atiku, two prominent PDP leaders, who tried in 2011 to displace Jonathan as the party’s candidate for the presidential election.
Oyinlola came to the party’s headquarters on Thursday to submit his form for the position, but was turned back on the grounds that the submission of forms had closed.
Investigations, however, revealed that Oyinlola’s backers had mounted pressure on the party’s National Working Committee to accept the former governor’s form.
It was gathered that the South West PDP was piqued by Oyinlola’s entry into the race in spite of its decision that none of the former governors should contest the party’s offices for now.
A leader of the party, who pleaded anonymity, said, “We all know those who are in the race. We have penciled down two former ministers – Prof. Tunde Adeniran and Chief Ebenezer Babatope – as well as the National Legal Adviser of the party, Chief Olusola Oke.
“Oyinlola himself is aware of this. The President is aware of our position and he is supporting us. You will recall that none of the former governors was appointed as a minister by Jonathan. We learnt that Oyinlola sneaked to his friends, governors, and Babangida, who was his boss in the army. It is these people that want to pick our candidate for us.”
The PDP chief, who explained the South-West’s position, said, “These former governors were responsible for the death of the party in the zone.
“If we want the PDP to regain its lost glory in Yorubaland, these people should take back seats in the party for now. They cannot launder the image of the PDP in the South West.”
Investigations revealed that Oyinlola was convinced by Babangida, Atiku and some governors to join the race as part of moves to spite the President.
It was gathered that with the chances of Tukur looking bright as a chairmanship candidate, the IBB group reasoned that they needed a person they could trust as National Secretary.
A member of the PDP’s NWC, who pleaded anonymity said, “You know Jonathan has not hidden his support for Tukur. IBB, Atiku and some governors chose Oyinlola, who they think they can trust to check the Jonathan man (Tukur) in the next NWC.”
When contacted, Oyinlola denied that he was being sponsored by IBB and Atiku. He, however, confirmed that he had the backing of the governors.
Oyinlola, in a statement by his media aide, Ayo Olaiya, said as an ex-governor, “There is nothing wrong if the Governor’s Forum throws its weight behind his aspiration.”
He said, “The talk about Oyinlola being a candidate of some powerful elements in the North is sheer blackmail. Politics should be without bitterness. Why run a fellow party man down because of your own ambition?”
He added that the PDP remained a formidable national party ready to attain political power legitimately during elections, stressing that his ambition would not scuttle the interest of the South West within the PDP.
But a group within the party, Osun PDP Patriots, criticised the former governor for his ambition.
The group’s spokesperson, Dr. Segun Oyinloye, in an interview with one of our correspondents, alleged that the contest for the post of PDP National Secretary should not be manipulated.
Oyinloye said, “Only those that collected forms for the post should be allowed to run. Nobody should be imposed on the party because it will affect the fortunes of the party in the South West.”
